What is Alertis?
Alertis - fund for bear and nature conservation, commit themselves to the protection of the natural habitat of the bear in particular as well as other animal species sharing this habitat. On top of this Alertis focuses on the welfare of captive bears. The first and most well known project is the Bear Forest in Ouwehand Zoo Rhenen, the Netherlands.
What does Alertis do?
Alertis supports projects that protect wild bears (Brown bear, Sloth bear, Spectacled Bear, Honey Bear, Asian black bear, American black bear, Polar bear) and their habitat and bears in captivity. Alertis works with governments and local organisations on projects concerning nature protection, welfare, education and information. These projects supported by the provision of (financial) resources, knowledge and expertise.
Why is Alertis a member of IUCN?
To be more effective, Alertis likes to share information and cooperate with NGOs and other organisations in the same field. IUCN makes this possible.
