Face Foundation

Forests Absorbing Carbon dioxide Emission

Logo Face

Mission / Objectives

The Face Foundation was set up to help abate the enhanced greenhouse effect by planting and protecting forest. Established in 1990 by NV Sep (the Dutch electricity generating board), it has been an independent non-profit foundation since 2000. Over the years we have accumulated a wealth of experience on forests in relation to the enhanced greenhouse effect. Face works with partners who are genuinely interested in forests and are able to manage these forests sustainably. An independent organisation certifies the forests and verifies the amounts of CO2 they store. More forest, less CO2 is our mission.

Core-activities
Rehabilitation, planting and conservation of forest. We’ve built up extensive experience in using forest to offset the enhanced greenhouse effect. Forests are most effective at reducing the enhanced greenhouse effect if their establishment and maintenance are sustainable. This means we use native tree species whenever possible, and interact positively with local people. This ensures that we also contribute to sustainable development and to the protection and restoration of biodiversity in the project countries.

Furthermore we can be your partner for:

  • Project identification and design;
  • Baseline studies;
  • Preparation for validation and certification;
  • Research;
  • Training;
  • Project management

Part of other Networks
Dutch Federation for International conservation of Nature (FIN), United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), IUCN member, GHG Verification and Certification service of SGS and Forest Stewardship Council (FSC).
