KNNV
What is KNNV?
KNNV stands for Royal Dutch Natural History Society (in Dutch), or the Society for Field Biology. KNNV is for everybody who wants to learn more about nature and has three focus areas: experiencing nature, studying nature and protecting nature. The society has 53 local departments and has several working groups on various subject such as mosses, swamps, orchids and insects. There is also a youth society, for every nature lover under the age of 33. Members of KNNV receive Natura, the independent magazine on Dutch nature.
KNNV Publishers have unique publications on nature and landscape, such as field guides, text books, practical guides, nature travel guides and children’s books.
What does KNNV do?Our members enjoy being outside and that is why we can be found in the field so often. Local departments frequently organise excursions, lectures, trips, nature camps and other activities in nature. Furthermore, a lot of members do nature inventory to monitor the quality of a nature reserve. Reports based on these data, often lay the foundation for the protection of nature areas.
