Ecosystem Grants Programme

EGP groen.JPG
The Ecosystem Grants Programme (EGP) of IUCN NL funds projects of local organizations in the South that link ecosystem conservation and poverty issues.

* EGP is approaching the last phase of its present contract financed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. We are therefore unable to consider any new proposal. *

In the vision of IUCN NL civil society organisations are of fundamental importance to safeguard nature. The small grants programmes were created to support local NGOs.

Through the small grants programmes, IUCN NL aims:
  • To give civil society organisations and their constituency a voice and strengthened capacity in the protection and sustainable management of ecosystems and the resources and services they provide;
  • To mainstream ecosystem and biodiversity management in the work of civil society organisations;
  • To contribute to a better understanding of, and an increased knowledge on how the maintenance or rehabilitation of healthy ecosystems contributes to poverty alleviation.

The EGP contributes to the following overall goal:
‘To reverse trends of ecosystem degradation and loss in the South, and the subsequent impoverishment of vulnerable groups in society, through the sustainable use and conservation of ecosystems for the benefit of present and future generations.’

Application deadlines will be announced on the IUCN NL web site.

Maximum grant size is Euro 85,000 (there is no minimum).
