De Werkgroep Ecologie en Ontwikkeling organiseert om de paar jaar een seminar voor een specifieke doelgroep, waarin ontwikkelingen inzake biodiversiteitsbehoud aan de orde komen die zich veelal buiten het gezichtsveld afspelen.
2010 Seminar Sea the Future
On 1 December 2010 the seminar ‘Sea the Future: the importance of marine biodiversity for local livelihoods in West-Africa’ has taken place in the Hague.
The day started with presentations from policymakers, researchers and NGOs. Following a roundtable discussion was held with a WWF representative from Senegal through Skype. In the afternoon, four parallel workshop sessions were held: 1) Marine Protected Area networks and poverty alleviation; 2) Common Fisheries Policy Reform 2012; 3) Certification for sustainable use of marine resources; 4) Oil vs. Fisheries: trade-offs for sustainable use of marine ecosystems. Outcomes and recommendations of these workshops were shared in a plenary sessions.

2009 Seminar Nature for Peace
Op 27 oktober 2009 vond het seminar 'Nature for Peace' plaats. Centraal stond de discussie hoe de integratie van natuurbescherming en duurzaam gebruik van natuurlijke hulpbronnen in beleid en programma's voor conflictbestrijding kan bijdragen aan de veiligheid in fragiele staten voor, tijdens en na conflicten.

2008 Seminar Perverse Subsidies
Het seminar 'perverse subsidies' vond plaats op 24 januari 2008 te Den Haag. Op het seminar werden de onderwerpen visserijsubsidies en subsidies aan palmolie toegelicht door experts. De voorbeelden betroffen subsidies die de grootschalige en niet-duurzame exploitatie van een ecosysteem bevorderen. Uit het seminar zijn conclusies en aanbevelingen geformuleerd.

2000 Seminar Natuurbehoud in conflictgebieden
In 2000 vond een seminar plaats over natuurbehoud in conflictgebieden. Het thema natuurbehoud in conflictgebieden staat inmiddels stevig op de agenda van beleidsmakers en maatschappelijke organisaties.
