IUCN NL and Rainforest connection win The Spindle Public Award for Best Innovation
Yesterday, the project that IUCN NL started this year in cooperation with Rainforest Connection and SPDA, won the Public Award for Best Innovation from the Spindle at the Partos Innovation Festival. Rainforest Connection installed old cell phones to protect a forest and its inhabitants in the Peruvian Amazon.
Each year, innovation platform The Spindle rewards the best innovative concepts that contribute to an inclusive, sustainable world with a Jury and Public Award for Best Innovation. The price was handed out at the final ceremony of The Partos Innovation festival, which is organised each year to higlight innovative ideas in the field of development cooperation.
By winning this award, IUCN NL and its partners will receive a fully supported crowdfunding campaign and a fundraising clinic. Additionally, all nominees were awarded a check of €1,000 by an anonymous donor. Liliana Jauregui was present to receive the award: "I'm very happy that we won, but I did miss our partners Luisa Rios from SPDA and Topher White from Rainforest Connection when I was on stage. Their efforts were indispensible in making this project succesful." The project is supported by the Dutch Postcode Lottery.
