About IUCN NL

IUCN NL is the Dutch National Committee of the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), the world’s largest and most diverse network for nature conservation. From our office in Amsterdam, we work with a team of about thirty  experts on the preservation and restoration of nature and biodiversity, with special attention to areas of high natural value and the communities that depend on them. Together with our 41 Dutch member organisations, including nature organisations, scientific institutes, and the government, we strive for a just world in which nature is valued and protected.

Your role

What will you do?

  • Identify and respond to trends in the (inter)national donor market;
  • Build and maintain relationships with institutional donors, governments, and partners;
  • Translate donor conditions into practical implications for the organisation;
  • Advise management on fundraising opportunities, risks, and strategic choices;
  • Co-develop and realize a financial business plan as part of the organisational strategy;
  • Guide and coach the Junior Fundraiser.

Who are you?

  • You are an experienced fundraising professional with at least 5 – 10 years of experience in fundraising or strategic partnership development, preferably within international NGOs or similar organisations;
  • You have experience in positioning an organisation at the intersection of policy, impact, and funding;
  • You possess knowledge of various funding channels, including institutional donors and private foundations;
  • You have an affinity for complex issues such as biodiversity loss, climate change, and human rights;
  • You have a proactive and strategic approach, with attention to detail and strong communication skills;
  • You have an entrepreneurial approach to the market: identifying and creating opportunities;
  • You are able to hold up a mirror to the organisation by providing an outside-in perspective;
  • You bring positive energy and possess motivational ability: you are a driving force within the team.

Language requirements

  • Good command of Dutch (near native);
  • Excellent command of English.

What do we offer?

  • A one-year contract with a salary between €4,072 and €6,780 gross per month (based on 36 hours per week), depending on seniority and expertise (salary scale 11 of the Collective Labour Agreement for Social Work);
  • An attractive benefits package, including age-related additional holiday leave, pension accrual with the Agricultural Industry Pension Fund (BPL), a comprehensive package of employee insurances, and a good travel expense reimbursement;
