Join us for an exciting in-person event in the IUCN Pavilion at the UNFCCC Climate Conference (COP28) in Dubai as we discuss how we can improve climate finance for forests, biodiversity, and food security.<\/h4>\n<\/div>\n\n
\n

This side event explores approaches to prevent and remedies to pay for forests and biodiversity loss. We will zoom in on the effectiveness of locally-led approaches to mitigation and adaptation to bring the discussions further surrounding the Loss and Damage Fund.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n

This event will emphasize the power of locally-led approaches to climate adaptation and mitigation and will showcase the critical role therein of Indigenous Peoples and local communities in protecting forests.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n

\n

We will highlight the importance of placing gender responsiveness and inclusion in all policies and showcase speakers from our network who bring grassroots (Indigenous Peoples, frontline communities, civil society organizations) examples of gender-responsive forest governance. Furthermore, we will advocate for increased climate investment, while stressing the urgent and equitable responsibility in addressing, minimizing, and averting loss and damage.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n

With the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework launched at CBD COP15, UNFCCC COP28 provides a unique opportunity to reinforce the interlinkages between tropical forests, climate change, biodiversity loss, and the critical role of ecosystem approaches.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n
