To our great dismay, we have learned that Romel (‘Mel’) Cardenas de Vera passed away unexpectedly last week. Mel was a well-known and respected human rights defender in the Philippines.<\/h4>\n<\/div>\n\n

For the last two years, we have been working closely with Mel within the Green Livelihoods Alliance \u2013 Forests for a Just Future to provide our partners in the Philippines with training on collective protection. We will miss his passion and commitment. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n

Our thoughts and condolences go out to his wife and daughter, family and friends.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n
