Jules Koppen | Expert Nature Conservation

Jules Koppen works as Expert Nature Conservation at IUCN NL. He combines a passion for nature conservation with a strong interest in project and programme management. His work focuses on supporting biodiversity conservation, ecosystem restoration and sustainable development initiatives in collaboration with partners in the Netherlands and internationally.

Over the years, Jules has developed particular expertise in West Africa, where he has worked on projects related to ecosystem restoration, climate resilience, nature-based solutions and sustainable livelihoods. He enjoys working at the intersection of conservation, local development and international cooperation, helping to connect local experiences with broader policy and funding opportunities.

In addition to his programme work, Jules is actively involved in strengthening digital collaboration and organisational processes within IUCN NL. By combining substantive project work with practical innovation, he contributes to increasing the effectiveness and impact of the organisation’s conservation efforts.
